Another Navajo related release using non Diné leading actors i.e.Lou Diamond Phillips. Not even a phrase in Diné Bizaad in the promo. Major motion pictures stereotyped us as 'indians' who all lived in teepees and used painted Caucasians to portray us. At over 200,000 in population, the studio seemed to miss out on the talented Dine actors and actresses that know the language and culture.

Hhmm, I watched both episodes. The cool gramma with the dark shades, grandpa and the fly were real Navajos. The Navajo language was butchered. Languages spoken by people who talk the language bring out the beauty and humor. This sounded like robots (cept for gramma/grandpa). Of course its with a twist of Hollywood and T. Hillerman. It would of been fun to watch real Navajo actors. I've read the T. Hillerman books.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the phrase toward the beginning of the trailer, "Two people were murdered in a hotel last night, but the scene reflects foul play". Maybe that town has "fair play" murders? Tough neighborhood I guess

The beautiful setting, great cinematography, and surprisingly interesting cast all got me interested and the Redford and Martin connection certainly didn’t hurt. Just finished the third episode and so far it’s fantastic.

The first time we see Lt. Leaphorn, he's telling an artifact thief that if he catches him doing it again, he'd better dig a grave for himself… by the book Leaphorn as Dirty Harry. When we are introduced to Jim Chee, he's driving a muscle car and blows past a group of Navajo whose car is broken down by the side of the road, and then we see him in a slick suit and a slicker haircut… traditionalist Chee as callous city slicker. Then we have shy Officer Bernadette as a sassy flirt. That's 15 minutes into the first episode, and all I could stand to watch. Ugh.
