Hard Cell | Official Trailer | Netflix

Hard Cell is a documentary style comedy set in the fictional female prison, HMP Woldsley. Writer and creator Catherine Tate plays multiple characters from Laura Willis, the Governor who believes creativity leads to rehabilitation, to Big Viv, the psychopath lifer. Set over a 6 week period during which the inmates rehearse a musical directed by ex-Eastender’s star Cheryl Fergison. Rehearsals draw together an oddball collection of women as they find their voices, grow in confidence and strengthen their friendships. Funny yet surprisingly moving, Hard Cell leans into the comical truth of prison life.

We watched half an episode and turned it off, then the news article came out the next day about the 0% rating. Guess we weren't the only ones who thought that.

I don't get it. To me it was absolute rubbish. I switched off after 20 mins of the first ep. Just wasn't funny. To me anyway. And I do love Catherine Tate. But this was bad.

I hear it was meant to be like Chris Lily's stuff. He's good. Absolutely love Angry boys.

Shockingly good. The writing and character development was worthy of Ricky Gervais. My only criticisms would be that Catherine took on too many characters. The Irish character should have been given to an up and coming actress/comedienne, and I felt she didn't do the prison guard character much justice. The character was funny but she didn't pull it off. Otherwise, one of the best comedy's I've watched in a while…..and I'm Welsh. Hope you all understood this lol.

Straight away, seemed like "The office", which was an unfunny and boring show. Very Short, only 6 episodes. Although I like Catherine Tate back in the day, there was no real comedy in this. Maybe due to the censorship and you can't say this or that, due to it offending someone!

This is the best comedy show on Netflix and it reminds me of Tracy Takes On, which was my favorite show back in the day. Catherine Tate js a genius and the characters she plays are freaking hilarious! Come on, Netflix give us more seasons!!!!

I know the trailer pushes the comedy side but the series is SO MUCH MORE than that.

Tate really gets to show her acting/impression chops. I genuinely cried in one particular scene where she is acting against herself.

    Brava!

Honestly, I gave up on the series on the first episode but kept watching cos why not… it's actually a pretty good show, you just need to get adjusted to it. Just finished episode 4. It's not your typical sitcom where every other sentence is a punch line. The ending of episode 2 made me cry a bit… Overall, I'm enjoying the show so far. If you don't like episode 1, I suggest you keep watching cos it gets better.
