Written by Michael Waldron and directed by Peter Segal, with Mike O’Malley as showrunner, Heels is a story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals, Jack Spade (Stephen Amell) and Ace Spade (Alexander Ludwig), war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy (Ludwig) and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel (Amell). But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.

This shouldve been set in the 80's around 85 during the dying days of the territories. Set in Texas a fictionalized biography of the Von Erichs. The Sportatorium was a shit hole until the lights were on and the crowds were packing out the stands. I remember going to WCCW shows as a kid . setting this in the modern era is a let down crowds dont pack WWE shows any more a small town show would be lucky to get 50 people mostly ignoring the show and starring at their phones. The bigger promotions dont scout the Indys WWE has NXT, AEW lets the talent come to them and Impact and ROH will take anyone.

Jack's booking makes more sense. He can win by using a sneaky low blow, or a chair shot when the referee isn't looking and get the dirty win. Then Ace gets a rematch and looks like he's finally going to win it, but Jack gets himself disqualified or counted out and retains the title due to the champions advantage. Then they have a street fight as the rubber match, and Ace finally gets the win.
