Any documentary that has Stacy Abraham’s in it ceases to hold much value. It’s a shame this important political figure couldn’t be explored without the conspiracy theorist and demagogue Abraham’s. Why’s she’s in this at all is anyone’s guess.
Such a bummer it's on Amazon : (. Wish it were available on Netflix….but thanks to Cheryl below for making info about her memoir available. That may be a good stand-in.

Thankful this movie was produced. What a remarkable, brilliant and loving person. How hard it must have been to be accepted into Law School at Howard University and not being able to speak in class. It delighted me she was first in the class so her contributions were accepted the next semester (or was it year?
SHE WAS, IS AND WILL BE A WOMAN. STOP USE "THEY" AND OTHER STVPIDIETIES OF GENDER IDEOLOGY. SHE WAS A PROUD WOMAN AND A LESBIANS WHO FIGHT FOR RIGHT OF WOMEN AND BLACKS HUMANS. STOP ERASING WOMAN AND OUR FIGHTS.
Wow, I saw this Doc, and it is so frustrating that we didn't know about this women. This was a powerful and mind blowing story of a human being so ahead of her time that it looks like she is a time traveler from our time and trying to live her truth back in the day. Between her relationship with Eleanor and RBG it says a lot. We need more about her and we need to speak about her more. And her smile was incredible.
They were a pioneer, I am so glad this documentary is available. I wish I had learned about them sooner but not sad that I am learning more about them now.

It is my observation that the Constitution was not only written without Black people in mind; it was not written with women in mind either (and of course by the term, “women” here, what is meant is so-called “white” women, because at that time Black women were being trafficked and enslaved by white people). At the inception of the Declaration of Independence no woman had a hand in its being written (or rather, none were ever given credit for its being produced); and the primary reason for this, was the subjugation of women for what amounted to several millennia before and to this very day; and furthermore, few to no women (globally) were literate at that time.
“Fourth of July, commemorates the Congressional approval of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 … many of those who signed the Declaration of Independence, did not practice what they preached. In fact, most of America did not follow this belief for a good part of this country's existence.
Blacks were mostly enslaved until the Civil War in the 1860s and still had few civil rights for another century after that; Native Americans weren't even declared citizens until 1924; and women were not allowed to vote until 1920.”
At the risk of inciting the ire of some, I am yet compelled to posit, that Pauli’s partnering with a yt person (especially as a Black woman assuming the masculine role while the yt woman maintains a hyper-feminine role), indirectly supports and props up the decrepit, psychotic, and ultra-violent ideology of RACISM/WHITE SUPREMACY; and I might add, yt patriarchal dogmas.
The words of bell hooks seem quite apropos here:
“In this culture, the phrase 'black woman' is not synonymous with 'tender,' or 'gentle.' It's as if those words couldn't possibly speak to the reality of black females.”
And so too, the words of Audre Lorde:
“We have to consciously study how to be tender with each other until it becomes a habit because what was native has been stolen from us, the love of Black women for each other.”
“If I didn’t define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive.”
Racism, homophobia, transphobia and the patriarchy have buried Pauli Murray's contributions until now. What a life! ♥️♥️
