Love this special; perfect Norm. Partway through I started getting the impression, couldn't tell you why, that he was alone in the room. Then at 40:52 they include a reverse shot. He's playing to literally four guys. Five, if there's one hiding behind the stool. The laughter is completely canned — and expertly edited. Hysterical.

Norm is great. His stand up is more than "stand up". Which in any event is certainly funny and entertaining. Maybe I am over thinking but to me he makes it clear through his jokes that his comedy is a commentary which goes deeper than the superficial. Watch it a few times and remember his story of the man who does not lie rather speak with sarcasm and the subject matter of his jokes. I think that he may be providing a multilayered message. There is a sort of Pagliacci element to it all in which the comedian may not say what he means but he may joke about it which renders his sincerity comical. Also consider he does not often release specials which leads one to believe that much thought was given to this composition. But what do I know?

I'm so sad to hear about cancer losing Norm Macdonald. If I were cancer I would've preferred to listen to those sweet sweet juicy one liners at least for a few more years.
