Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Outlander will be internationally distributed by Sony Pictures Television.

Fifty Shades of Plaid…….I can't wait to see just how far they'll dare go when filming the scene where Jamie beats Claire with a leather strap. Surely they won't ignore it completely? It made up a whole chapter in the book. Chapter twenty-three. Or something…..blush

I tried reading this book and couldn't even get halfway. The Scottish accents are dreadful in the book, they may as well just be in Yorkshire! I was interested to see if this movie was going to be any better but as usual, the male protagonist is a man in a boy's body. I am so sick of the chiselled jawline and sculpted bodies of Hollywood. I was hoping for a little realism. So that's a no for the book AND the film then.

By an Irish girl in England, married to a Scot.

My favourite thing about this story was that it covered so many genres, it wasn't just some romance. A true work of historical fiction genius that I can't wait to see on the screen. I truly hope that this is able to be at least half as good as Diana Gabaldon's works, because even that would be an accomplishment!

Clearly all the nay-sayers have NOT read any of the books otherwise they'd know how inaccurate their comments are. Seriously people, if you're going to leave a comment in a public domain at least know WTF you're talking about! The entire series is amazing! I've just finished book 8 and true to the series it was amazing…. I just hope the TV show does as good a job so we can see these books get the screen time they deserve.

I just finished reading Outlander for the first time. So, I google it and find out a show is premiering in a couple months? Um. Yes. Just yes. I jumped on the bandwagon at exactly the right time.

I haven't read the books because Im not a good reader, but I know more or less what the premise of the show is, and I loveeeeeeeee it.  Period, Romance, Action & lots of men in kilts 😉 what is not to love about this?  These books seem to have a lot of a following so if they make the series right they will have to add all of the non-reader fans out there waiting for this series to come out.  Cant wait August 10th is already here……

I love the book, but I am a bit underwhelmed by this trailer. I want to like the casting, as the two leads seem like really sweet people and extremely passionate about their roles, but something is lacking for me….. maybe they just aren't how I imagine them, I don't know. I know I shouldn't judge based on a mere trailer, and of course, I will go into the show with as open a mind as possible. I guess I was just hoping this trailer would make me more excited but all it did was make me even more uncertain and nervous. Maybe it's just me! :/

I can't express how excited I am for this series:)))))) I first read the books when I was sixteen and I can't believe I'm finally getting a series. Happy days!!!! And the actor that plays Jamie is exactly how I imagined him, even his voice – so perfect. And the actress is so beautiful, and I think she looks like how Claire is supposed to. So happy:)

Currently reading Written in My Own Heart's Blood and loving it. Of course, I've read all the other books in the series, sans the novellas. This is, by far, the best romantic fiction series out there. Can't wait for the television show. Something tells me they will do it justice. Kind of like Game of Thrones.

People should stop whining and get their facts together. I'm reading the books and they're awesome and the story has nothing to do with bad moral or something as such. Start reading the series before you're judging. I'm looking forward to the show and I like the trailer.

Why did they darken her hair for the role when Claire in the book has very light brown hair?  Every heroine lately has the darkest brown hair, I think it's some kind of conspiracy against the lighter haired ladies.

I've listened to all the books on Audible. The actress who does all the voices is phenomenal and she interprets all the humor and pathos to a "T". I'm so used to Jamie's Scottish voice and Claire's, I don't think I could get used to the actors on the series. Really, the Audible versions are spectacular!

I LOVE this commercial!!! Every time I see it on Starz I lose my shit, this is such an amazing show and I adore the song that's featured in this ad! I'd never heard of the books before (I heard about the show from Graham McTavish's twitter and subsequently learned of the books) and I knew from the first episode that I just HAD to read the books! I picked up the first one today and I'm so stoked to get started! (Gotta finish my current books first tho)
