Based on Stephen King's novel? Ehm nope. The story in this movie does not match the book and the script here is crap. Not creepy or anything… I've read the book three times and seen the movie (1989) about twenty times. People who think this is good have not seen the original. I don't understand how King could let them do this with his masterpiece. Zelda suffocates to death, and Gage is the one who dies on the road, not Ellie. Bit by bit they destroy it. Ugh I get anxiety. Have the original on DVD. Got to see it tonight to get rid of all this shit… Gaaaah.

If they were really passionate about the book, they could really scare the shit out of you. It's so frustrating that they're too scared to go balls deep into the lore and just make a faithful adaption. But after 30 years of waiting for Pet Sematary Three, this was worth the wait. But I want more from the book. It's only 300 pages, but they cut so much out that can really fuck with your head.

The book is definitely one of Stephen King’s best books, most horrifying in every aspect. But like with most films, they always have to change the storyline. How I hate that. If they had stuck to the books storyline, I’m sure the film would have been, (well how can I say it? ) more gripping and easier to follow. I must admit though, the ending of the film sure had an horrific twist to the tale. As in a previous tag, or whatever that’s called, the book took me, excuse my French, by the balls and led me into an eternal nightmare. So gripping, I did not want to put the book down. I’m a James Herbert fan as well, may he rest in eternal peace, but the book, Pet Semetary, was by far the best piece of fictional horror writing I have had the pleasure of reading. Why did Ellie die in the film? The book had Gage being flattened by an Orinoco Oil truck, unlike the film when it was Ellie. True to the books line, Church was killed and was brought back to life, but why change the original storyline? Still, good enough film. But, yeah, as before, give me the book anytime.

I wished they had never shown Ellie being the one who come back. I remember seeing the movie in theaters and it set up so well that you think Gage is going to be the one and then it wasn’t. It really would’ve shocked the audience.
