Such a shame the American writer did so little research and then let the film be done off of Guernsey. There's a point at which you wonder how insensitive some people can be, I know there's money involved but even though the story only scratches the surface of the occupation she must have still realised the stories needed depicting with some tact? It would've been easy to make this far more accurate without taking from the story, would've only added to it! If you've read the book or enjoy the film then please visit our little island and learn about the true stories, they go over and above this one by far, similarly the island is beautiful – far better than where it looks like they've filmed it. It's a bit like enjoying Harry Potter and then realising you can go and visit a real wizard world 🙂 xx

Loved this book! It's on my nightstand and I reread it when I need a reason to stop whining about my life.. I can't wait for it to come to Netflix in the States.. I started reading and researching about Guernsey and was astounded at what went on..

Aside from the happy thought of seeing a reunion of sorts for some of the memorable, lovable and maybe impactful Downton Abbey characters, I think this movie is very, very Good. I am a sucker for period pieces and the story is truly heart~warming. Another one of this caliber (for me) is The Bookshop set in the seaside sleepy town of Hardborough (Suffolk) in England.

Every once in a while, there is a movie that is just perfect. This is one. Beautiful story, exquisitely told by engaging and talented actors. I read the book years ago and loved it. The movie does complete justice to the book. This is a tiny snippet of history that most people wouldn't know anything about. And don't watch it just because of the "Downton Abbey" cast – it's worth every minute.
