The Tender Bar – Official Trailer | Prime Video

The Tender Bar arrives in US theaters December 17 and Prime Video on January 7.

Directed by Academy Award® Winner George Clooney
Written by Academy Award® Winner William Monahan
Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning author J.R. Moehringer’s memoir “The Tender Bar”

Starring Academy Award® Winner Ben Affleck, Tye Sheridan, Christopher Lloyd, Lily Rabe

The Tender Bar tells the story of J.R. (Sheridan), a fatherless boy growing up in the glow of a bar where the bartender, his Uncle Charlie (Affleck), is the sharpest and most colorful of an assortment of quirky and demonstrative father figures. As the boy’s determined mother (Rabe) struggles to provide her son with opportunities denied to her — and leave the dilapidated home of her outrageous if begrudgingly supportive father (Christopher Lloyd) — J.R. begins to gamely, if not always gracefully, pursue his romantic and professional dreams — with one foot persistently placed in Uncle Charlie’s bar. The Tender Bar is based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by J.R. Moehringer.

I watched this movie after seeing this trailer and I was very disappointed. The plot itself is not bad but the execution is not there for me. The entire movie it was very scattered and there was little to no character development. Every scene would jump far into the future with no explanation as to what had happened previously in the past year or two. It was hard to follow and I would have enjoyed it more if more time was taken to develop the plot and characters.

The lockdown kid is cute and all but why isn’t somebody wearing blue or brown contact lenses? Hair color turning different colors sure, but eyes and ethnicity? Really?

One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I used to be a bartender in a local tavern. The characters were spot-on. The book was also excellent. The movie did it justice.

This movie is flat out horrible.

There are so many unanswered questions.

Why is the college kid so dumb, yet he is at Yale.

Why does the girlfriend walk in the bedroom in the morning and tell the kid she "might be seeing someone else."

Who are the ten kids in the grandparent's house?

Why do they drive around and pick up the bartender's friends…not once but twice. They are all adults? Good Will hunting 2?

wtf is happening in this movie.

Am I the only who always thought Ben Affleck was a good actor ? He’s been consistently brilliant lately but have people forgot about his performances in The Town, Gone Girl and Argo ? Plus I think he’s tied with Bale for the best Batman/Bruce Wayne
